Lenovo Zuk Z1

Lenovo-backed Chinese smartphone maker ZUK has introduced the company's first device in the form of ZUK Z1. The device is expected to appeal to many considering what it offers as a package. The phone is priced below Rs. 15,000 in India

One should not complain much about the output of the 13-megapixel primary shooter that is paired with Cyanogen’s software and a dual-LED flash to bail you out in low light conditions. Additional options like optical image stabilization, autofocus, face detection, etc. add more to your images. On the front, to satisfy your selfie taste buds, there is an 8-megapixel secondary camera that can also record Full HD videos apart from assisting video calls.
In terms of performance, you can expect things to flow smoothly as the device is equipped with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. Paired with the chipset is 3GB of RAM, that paves the way for lag-free multitasking.

The ZUK Z1 sports a metal frame with a non-removable plastic back panel. The metal frame matches the plastic back reflecting a premium feel and look. The curved edges make the device easy to hold and carry around. On the front, the 5.5-inch Full HD display is protected from attracting scratches courtesy a layer of Corning's Gorilla Glass. The display is bright and colour saturation is also noteworthy. 

In the connectivity department, the smartphone ships with a host of options like 4G, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and a microUSB Type-C port that supports data transfer speed up to 5GBps. The ZUK Z1 runs the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system wrapped under the customizable CyanogenMod 12.1 out of the box. The CyanogenMod allows you change the fonts, notification icons, toggle buttons and more. In addition, the Advance Mode which was a feature in Yu handsets allows you to calibrate the display’s colour, change the LCD density of the display and enable per-app performance profiles. 

Fuelled by a massive non-removable Li-Po 4,100 mAh battery, you can expect the device to easily last for more than a day. Moreover, the device comes with fast battery charging support and can be done with the fast charger provided in the box. For storing personal data and apps there is 64GB of internal storage space that is non-expandable. 

The ZUK Z1 is worthy of your money as it packs decent hardware. Performance too is satisfactory when the out-dated Snapdragon 801 chipset is coupled with CyanogenMod 12.1.
