The Bolt series is targeted at first-time buyers. Boasting entry-level hardware, the devices are aimed at those making the switch from feature phones. However, that doesn t mean seasoned users of Android should stay away from these devices. Far from it, as evidenced by the Bolt A065.

Available in the country for just 3,000, the Bolt A065 is small in stature, featuring a screen size of 4 inches and a resolution of 800 x 480. There s a dual-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU running the show, along with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. You also get a microSD card slot, 2MP camera at the back, VGA front shooter, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, FM Radio and microUSB 2.0 along with dual-SIM functionality and a 2,000mAh battery.

One positive feature on the device is that it comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. That s not saying much, but considering that there are several handsets in this segment that still run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (and a few still stuck on Ice Cream Sandwich), it is great that the Bolt A065 comes with a relatively new version of Android out of the box.

Micromax is the largest Indian vendor, and that means that there s a certain amount of familiarity with the device. You can be assured that it features a decent build quality that ll ensure it lasts for a while without breaking down. This segment is such that finding a decent handset among the sea of handsets available is daunting. That said, we have no issues recommending the Bolt A065, with a few caveats. This device is aimed at the entry-level market, and as such can handle web browsing, social networking and basic tasks well. To do anything other than that, you ll have to go a segment higher, which is host to the Android One handsets.
