Micromax Canvas Spark 2

Homegrown smartphone makers Micromax has introduced the successor to the previously launched Canvas Spark. The latest offering named Canvas Spark 2 is a low-end smartphone and a cut-down version of its predecessor that comes with very basic features required for communication. The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and has support for ten regional languages.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch FWVGA display that makes the screen readable. The viewing angles are not so great and the device has legibility issues while placed under the sun. However, considering the price tag one should not expect anything more than what is offered.

Powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor the device operates smoothly. The Canvas Spark 2 includes 768MB of RAM which cannot be used for multitasking. One can also expect the device to lag at certain points. As far as storage is concerned, the smartphone comes with 4GB of onboard storage out of which only 1.73GB can be used for storing apps and other files. In addition, there is an expansion slot that can boost the storage up to 32GB using a microSD card.

Standard connectivity options tag along with the device which includes 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and a microUSB 2.0 port to transfer files to and fro from your PC. It is fuelled by a Li-Ion 1,800 mAh battery which the company claims supports talk time up to 7 hours.

For imaging and capturing videos users can use the 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash to aid in dull conditions. On the front, the device ships with a 2-megapixel fixed focus front shooter for video calling and taking selfies.
