Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is a successor to the rugged Samsung Galaxy XCover. The phone is pitched as a competitor to popular rugged Android phones such as Sony Xperia Go and Motorola Defy Plus. The phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. The phone houses a 1 GHz dual core processor with 1 GB RAM. In terms of dimensions the phone is fairly large with measurements of 130.5 x 67.7 x 12 mm. The phone is also weighs 148.5 g, making it heavy duty and rugged. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the phone is its 4.0" scratch-proof capacitive touch screen with display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and pixel density of 233 ppi.

The phone sports a 5 MP primary camera with the regular array of features such as auto focus, LED flash and Geo-tagging facility. The camera can record 720p, also known as HD videos. In the front, the phone sports a VGA secondary camera for regular video calls.
