YU Yunicorn

The Yu Yunicorn is a mid-range smartphone by Micromax and Cyanogen, with monster core specs priced at under Rs. 15,000.

The YU Yunicorn sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass on top for protection against dust and scratches. The display has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels that translates to 407 PPI pixel density. Being an IPS display, it provides wide viewing angles and good colour reproduction. The device comes with a metal body with a 2.5D glass on the front.

The YU Yunicorn runs the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS. The device is powered by an octa-core 1.9 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 chipset to enable flawless performance. The Mali T860 GPU alongside the processor takes care of the graphics. This should be good enough for casual gaming. The device packs 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. However, the inbuilt storage can be extended by an additional 128GB via a dedicated slot. A microSD card slot is duly included.

In the photography department, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel HD selfie camera. The 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture includes options such as geotagging, touch focus, and autofocus. This should provide quick focus lock while taking pictures. An LED flash that sits below the camera sensor lets you capture clear photographs even in a low-light setting. You can take videos up to 1080p@30fps as well, by simply switching the camera mode to recording mode. The smartphone is backed by a removable Li-Po battery unit. The handset is currently available in Moondust Gray and Alabaster White colour options.

This dual-SIM smartphone supports the dual standby feature which means that only one SIM can be active at a time while making or receiving calls. When it comes to connectivity, the YU Yunicorn includes options such as 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and FM Radio. The micro-USB port adds to the external media connectivity that lets you transfer files and other multimedia.
