The Apple iPad 9.7 is the successor to the Apple iPad Air 2. The device retains the same metal unibody design. The device measures 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm and weighs 478 grammes. The device weighs 9 grammes more than its non-cellular variant due to the inclusion of a SIM card tray. The device is Gold, Silver, and Space Grey.

The Apple iPad is equipped with a 9.7-inch IPS LCD display. The display carries a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels for a pixel density of 264 PPI. The display supports 10 point multitouch, and for protection, it comes with the oleophobic coating and scratch-resistant glass. The new iPad comes with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera on the back and a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera on the front. In spite of its powerful hardware, the device can only record Full HD videos capped at 30FPS.

The tablet houses Apple s new A9 chipset that encloses dual-core 1.84GHz Twister CPU and PowerVR GT7600 GPU. The Apple A9 chipset is mated to 2GB of RAM. The Apple iPad 9.7 is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner and a barometer.

The Apple iPad 9.7 is powered by an 8,610 mAh battery that can be charged through the lightning port provided on the bottom of the device. Unlike the newer iPhone s, the iPad 9.7 still retains the 3.5mm audio jack for uninterrupted music. The Apple iPad 9.7 Wi-Fi + Cellular, as the name suggests comes with 4G LTE cellular connectivity, along with Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS.
