Apple iPhone 7 Plus

Right from the sixth-generation of Apple iPhones, they come in two variants, the smaller 4.7-inch display variant, and a large 5.5-inch display variant. The seventh-generation of iPhones are no different as Apple has launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus as always comes with a few extra features that make it more advanced than its younger sibling. The iPhone 7 Plus is now IP67 rated - Dust and Water-resistant giving the users a peace of mind that they no more have to handle the costly device carefully and keep it away from liquids.

The new iPhones now comes with stereo speaker setup to give the user more sensational audio experience. The bass enhancing speaker is located at the bottom beside the lightning port, and the treble-enhancing speaker is located within the earpiece. Now with the extra unit of a speaker, the iPhone 7 Plus gives 50% louder audio output.

The home button now uses force-touch technology instead of the physical mechanism; that means now it only gives the sensation of being pressed without actually being pressed inside with the help of its haptic engine.

Gone is the old 3.5mm audio jack that was used to connect your earphones. Apple has taken a big step to skip the audio jack and instead use its Lightning connector to power the headphones. Although Apple is providing a lighting to 3.5mm adapter in the box for those who want to connect their existing earphones with 3.5mm audio jack. This may be disappointing for some people as they have to carry the adapter with them everywhere in case they intend to use the standard audio jack earphones, and also charging and listening to music at the same time is no more possible.

Apple has replaced the Space Grey color variant with two new color variants that are Black and Jet black. The other three color options including Gold, Rose Gold, and the Silver are still available.

The iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display that now supports wider colour gamut. The wider colour gamut increases the colour accuracy as well as makes the content look much punchier; it also helps in better differentiation between similar colours. The display is now brighter compared to its predecessor iPhone 6s Plus, which gives it advantage under direct sunlight.

The Apple iPhone 7 Plus sets a benchmark with the first dual 12-megapixel camera setup. Apple has equipped the device with a dual camera to provide with 2x optical zoom; it does that with the help of one 12MP sensor having a focal length of 28mm and an aperture of f/1.8 and the other 12MP sensor with a focal length of 56mm and an aperture of f/2.8. The optical zoom is far better than the digital zoom as it is optically achieved, and not by software enhancement which spoils the details and clarity. Both the 12MP sensors are optically stabilised to correct the shakes caused by the user. Also, the dual camera setup is mated to dual-tone quad-LED flash for up to twice the reach and brightness. The front-facing camera is now a 7MP unit instead of the 5MP unit found on its predecessor.

Running the Apple iPhone 7 is the new iOS 10 operating system, it comes bearing with tons of new features that are focused on making the usage of the smartphone more convenient and fun. It starts as soon as you pick the device up, yes, the screen turns on itself as you pick the device up and turn it towards yourself, so now you have one less work of pressing the power button to wake the device. Apart from that the iOS 10 comes loaded with plenty of features added to iMessage, Maps, search and camera.

Under the hood, the iPhone 7 Plus is powered by Apple A10 Fusion chipset. The new chipset is now a quad-core unit consisting of two high-efficiency cores for basic processes like calls, messages and photography while the other two cores are high-performance cores for processing and carrying out heavy tasks like video editing and gaming. With this new chipset, Apple promises up to 50% better performance.

According to Apple the iPhone 7 Plus is capable of providing 21 hours of talk time on 3G, 13 hours of internet use on 3G and LTE, while 15 hours on Wi-Fi, 14 hours of video playback, and up to 60 hours of video playback. All these ratings are carried out with audio output on the wireless Apple AirPods.

The connectivity options are the same that are found on the iPhone 6s Plus which include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and a reversible Lightning port for syncing, charging, and listening to audio.
