Gionee M5 Plus

Gionee Marathon M5 Plus continues on the company's trend of big-battery-packed smartphones. The latest offering is a mid-range device that makes its way into the smartphone market and is an upgraded Marathon M5.

The Marathon M5 Plus boasts a 6-inch Full HD 2.5D Curved AMOLED display as opposed to the 5.5-inch HD screen on its predecessor. The device has awesome viewing angles and reproduces bright colours. To keep your data safe, there is a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button which the company claims can unlock the device in 0.38 seconds. Users can record up to 5 fingerprints.

At its heart delivering flawless performance is a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which paired with 3GB of RAM makes multitasking smooth and keeps the device lag-free. There is 64GB of internal storage space which lets you store all that you want. In addition, there is a microSD card slot that can expand the storage further up to 128GB. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus runs the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with the proprietary Amigo OS 3.0 on top.

As far as software is concerned, Gionee has introduced several new features, including Ami Clone, which lets users backup all data on their smartphone including minor details such as the arrangement of icons on the home screen which can be restored as it is. The OS also comes with a child mode that lets users limit apps for children access. This mode can be activated or deactivated via a password or the fingerprint sensor.

For connectivity, the device supports multiple options including 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a microUSB Type-C port. However, the battery on the M5 Plus is a cut-down than the one present in the Marathon M5. The device packs a 5,020 mAh battery and is 8.4 mm thick.

In terms of imaging the device comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera paired with an LED flash for capturing images and recording videos in both indoor and outdoor environments. Also, for selfie lovers the device sports a 5-megapixel front shooter.
