Huawei Y7 Prime (2019)

The Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) gets a huge upgrade in terms of looks. Gone is the sturdy yet boring metal body design of the Y7 Prime (2018). The new phone from Huawei brings a shinier back design with a glossy finish. It comes in four colors—Black, Blue, Purple and Red—with gradient color. At the front, the phones gets a nearly bezel-less screen design. There’s a 6.26-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution (1520×720 pixels) and a teardrop notch which hides the selfie camera within. It measures 158.92×76.91×8.1mm and weighs 168 grams.

The Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 software. Huawei had equipped the Y7 Prime (2018) with the Snapdragon 430 processor, and the Y7 Prime (2019) gets an upgraded Snapdragon 450 chipset with 1.8GHz octa-core processor. The chipset is paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage, depending on the variant. There’s a microSD card slot as well which can be used for storage expansion, by up to an additional 256GB. The Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) appeared on China’s telecom regulatory authority TENAA’s website with models numbers: DUB-AL00, DUB-AL20, and DUB-TL00. Connectivity features include 4G LTE compatible dual-SIM card slot, GPS, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth 4.2.

The Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) has two camera sensors at the rear: 13MP and 2MP. The two sensors are vertically stacked on the back of the phone and the camera setup is accompanied by an LED flash. The phone features phase-detection autofocus, AI enhancements, and 1080p. At the front, placed inside the teardrop notch, is the 8MP selfie camera which can also be used for video calling.

Compared to the Huawei Y7 Prime (2018), which was launched with a 3000mAh battery, the Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) comes fitted with a much larger 3900mAh battery. The phone promises 2-day battery life, thanks to larger battery and power-efficient internals. Unfortunately, Huawei still hasn’t decided to let its low-end phones use a USB Type-C port. So, you’ll have to rely on the good old microUSB 2.0 cable for charging the Y7 Prime (2018) or for data transfer.
