The phone comes integrated with a mechanical slider on top of the front panel housing front camera and other sensors. The slider design is the latest trend catching up with smartphones, Oppo launched the first smartphone with slider mechanism, dubbed Oppo Find X. The Lenovo Z5 Pro is a cheaper take on the slider design. It features a 6.39-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display bearing 1080x2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection layer on top. Additionally, the phone also packs an optical In-display fingerprint sensor, which is embedded into the screen and illuminates when the user's fingertip touches the screen while capturing the reflection for biometric comparison with the registered fingerprint.

The Lenovo Z5 Pro is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC engineered with optimized AI power and performance. The chipset is ideal for dual camera features. It has multi-core Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine to handle AI-assisted functions on the phone with ease. The chipset also includes the Snapdragon X15 modem that is claimed to download files quickly with improved Wi-Fi coverage that does not deter by walls or any other physical hindrances for signals. There is 6GB of RAM onboard with 64GB/128GB of storage, depending on the variant. In terms of software support, the Lenovo Z5 Pro runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI 10 on top.

The mechanical slider on the Lenovo Z5 Pro houses the front camera along with other sensors. There is a 16MP+8MP dual front camera setup, wherein the secondary sensor is an IR sensor that enables the Face Unlock functionality. The front camera supports features such as beauty mode for capturing flawless selfies. There is a 16MP+24MP dual rear camera setup with dual f/1.8 aperture, placed on the back panel. The rear camera supports dual-tone LED flash, autofocus, AI scene recognition, PDAF, HDR, Super Night Scene mode, 4K video-recording, and 1080p videos at 120 fps. A 3,350mAh battery backs the Lenovo Z5 Pro with support for 18W fast charging. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC.
