The most standout aspect of the LG G8s ThinQ is undoubtedly its front TOF (time of flight) sensor that can detect the user s palm. This sensor will make use of IR to unlock the phone by scanning the entire palm along with the veins inside. LG aptly calls this Hand ID. Users will also be able to trigger Air Motion gestures using these sensors. Once the user s hand is recognized, two preset apps will be pulled down. Moving the hand either left or right will let the user select one of these apps. Some apps will allow further controls such as play and pause. Such features will require the hand to be twisted in the same way one would adjust a dial. Other than the TOF sensor, there is an 8MP camera at the front of the phone for selfies. The back of the G8s, on the other hand, makes use of a tripe camera setup. While the latter offers a QHD+ screen, the G8s ThinQ makes do with a 6.2inch Full HD+ resolution AMOLED. Even though the resolution is lower, the display doesn t compromise in its quality as it offers support for HDR and Dolby Vision, along with 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Powering the G8s ThinQ is the same Snapdragon 855 chipset as its higher specced sibling. For storage, the phone offer 6GB of RAM along with 64Gb of storage.

The battery on the LG G8s ThinQ measures in at 3550mAh. The phone supports Quick Charge 3.0 via a USB Type-C port. Wireless charging is also possible, although at slower speeds. Moving on to the audio, the phone offers stereo loudspeakers along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone even supports DTS: X Surround Sound. Connectivity options on the G8s ThinQ include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, aptX HD, A-GPS, and GLONASS.
