Micromax Bolt A58

The Micromax Bolt A58 is an ultra-low budget device for first time users smartphone users. It features 3.5-inch TFT LCD display, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and ROM, memory expansion slot, 2-megapixel primary camera with video recording, and a 1,200 mAh battery.

The device is comes in midnight black and raging red colours, along with a microUSB to USB cable, charger, user guide, warranty, battery, and headphones. There's quite a lot of bezels surrounding the display, capacitive touch keys below the touchscreen display, and an earpiece above it. The power and volume buttons are present on the right and left side of the device. THe camera lens, Micromax logo, and loudspeaker grill can be seen on the back of the smartphone.

The 3.5-inch TFT LCD display has a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, 260K colours, and a pixel density of measly 129 pixels per inch. At least it s multitouch capacitive display, so you can do things like pinch-to-zoom while browsing the web or looking at still images. The screen lacks any kind of protection layer. There s only one camera that s placed on the back. It has a resolution of 2 megapixels, but it lacks autofocus, LED flash, and other features. You can record videos in HVGA resolution (320 x 480 pixels), which is quite low.

A 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572M processor with ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and ARM Mali-400 GPU takes care of all the processing tasks. There s 512MB RAM and 512MB of ROM, which can be considered as very low as only 90MB of storage space is available to the end user for installing apps. Storage expansion is possible, thanks to a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 32GB cards. There s neither a proximity sensor nor an ambient-light sensor, but there s a G-sensor (also known as accelerometer).

On the software side of things, the device comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, but there s no hope that it will receive Android updates. Connectivity is handled by dual-SIM slot, WLAN 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth v4.0, and a microUSB port.
