Micromax Canvas Fun A74 is aimed at the budget buyer. As such, it features hardware on the lower-end side of things. It comes with a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory and a micro-SD slot through which storage can be further extended to 32 GB.

The Canvas Fun A74 looks similar to other device sin the Canvas line. Micromax is nothing if not consistent. The device does look quite sturdy, and comes with three hardware navigational buttons at the bottom of the device. The screen on the Canvas Fun A74 is a 4.5-inch variant with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and an overall pixel density of 218 ppi. The screen quality is decent for a device in this category, and features multitouch.

The Canvas Fun A74 comes with a 5 MP camera with flash that assists users in taking pictures in low-light conditions. The camera can shoot 720p videos at 30 fps and features multi shot and night mode shooting modes. The camera also has 4x digital zoom. At the front, the mobile contains a 0.3 MP shooter for video calls. In terms of multimedia, the Canvas Fun A74 can handle MP3, MID, AMR, AAC, WAV audio formats and 3GP for video.

Canvas Fun A74 comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on Micromax's own skin. While some manufacturers overly customize the UI, Micromax has seen fit to alter the UI only slightly, so users can get an interface that is relatively close to stock Android. That doesn't mean that Micromax has left users wanting. The manufacturer is bundling M! Live, which gives users the ability to download songs from a catalog of over a lakh songs.

The Canvas Fun A74 features 3G, and users can download at 21 Mbps with an ability to upload at 5.76 Mbps. Also included is Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 and micro-USB 2.0. The battery on the device is a 1,500 mAh Li-Polymer variant and is claimed to offer 5 hours of talktime on 3G and a 155 hour standby time.
