The Motorola G4 is a good choice of phone for its display, water-resistance and slim design. The phone is priced below Rs. 20,000 in India.

The phone features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display that shows bright colors that more than fits everyday requirements. The display has Full HD resolution and pixel density of 401 PPI. The phone has much in common with the G4 Plus which also features a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Both phones are also water-resistant, while the Moto G is only 5.0-inch and water-resistant. The display on the G4 is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The G4 Plus measures 153 x 76.6 x 9.8 mm and weighs 155 grams, similar to the G4 Plus. The phone does not have the textured finish of the Moto G, nevertheless, the plain back does not affect grip. The 3.5 mm audio jack sits at the center of the top edge of the device. It also features rounded edges and a plain plastic back available in black and white.

The phone runs 6.0.1 Marshmallow on a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 SoC with an octa-core processor (4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processors) that isn’t the best a smartphone can have but works great for everyday tasks along with 2GB of RAM. The phone, in true Motorola style, is equipped with useful gimmicks such as nudging the phone to show notifications as opposed to pushing a button or tapping screen. The phone also has Google Voice assistant.

The 13-megapixel rear camera takes crystal clear pictures, and is the primary difference between the G4 and the G4 Plus which features a 16-megapixel rear camera. The apertures on both phones are f/2.0 that lets in enough light to capture clear images even in low-light conditions. In addition, the G4 features dual LED flash. The camera app has a number of features such as Quick Capture that recognizes hand motion to quickly open the camera app, Best Shot to capture multiple images, and plenty of settings to tweak to make the best out of any situation. The front camera on the other hand, is 5-megapixels with an OmniVision OV5693 sensor that facilitates 1080p video recording at 30fps and the taking of quality selfies. The battery on the phone is a non-removable 3,000mAh battery that lasts a day. The chipset facilitates fast-charging, giving the battery a considerable boost of energy in 15 minutes of charge.

The phone supports dual micro-SIMs that support 4G LTE mobile data, 3G mobile data, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS for navigation that is aided by A-GPS as well GLONASS and BDS, Bluetooth 4.1, while sporting a microUSB 2.0 for syncs and charging.
