Samsung Galaxy A40

The Samsung Galaxy A40 sits between the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50, but it appears to have a smaller screen than both the other phones. It has a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels), 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a U-shaped notch for the selfie camera. In terms of looks, the Galaxy A40 uses a “glasstic” (essentially, plastic) body. It is available in four colors: Black, Blue, Coral, and White. The Black colored variant has shimmers of rainbow colors when light strikes against the Galaxy A40’s back.

In terms of imaging, the Galaxy A40 uses three cameras, two on the rear and one at the front. There is a 16MP+5MP dual-camera setup at the rear, with the 16MP sensor featuring phase-detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, and 4K video recording at 30fps. The 5MP sensor merely acts as a depth sensor. The rear-facing camera can capture background blur effect using the Live Focus mode. The front-facing 25MP selfie camera has a fixed-focus lens and can record Full HD 1080p videos at 30fps.

Samsung’s One UI software, which is based on Android 9 Pie operating system, runs on the Samsung Galaxy A40. The phone’s software is optimized for large-screen phones so that it is easier to reach content without adjusting the grip of your palm. There’s Night Mode, too, which darkens the UI of almost all stock apps that come pre-loaded with the phone out of the box. The Galaxy A40 uses Samsung’s Exynos 7885 chipset, which has an octa-core CPU (2x ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cores + 6x ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores) and ARM’s Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. There’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

The Samsung Galaxy A40 is powered by a 3100mAh battery, which can be charged faster with a supplied 15W Adaptive Fast Charge compatible charger. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy A40 features a dual-SIM card slot, and the phone is compatible with 4G LTE and VoLTE features. Other connectivity features include GPS, A-GPS, FM Radio, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2 (with LE), NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
