Verdict
In an era where most mid-range smartphones feature a display with a traditional notch, the display in the Galaxy A8s breaks the trend with a punch-hole system, which is comparatively less obstructive. So, if you are among those people who watch a lot of content, the Galaxy A8s is an ideal device for you. You also get a peppy performance thanks to the Snapdragon 710 SoC and an option to get the smartphone with 8GB of RAM. The device offers fairly good front and rear camera sensors as well. The low battery capacity is the only downside of this phone. And if you can live with it, the Galaxy A8s is pretty decent smartphone for its price.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s is the first smartphone in the world to feature a hole in the screen for the front-facing camera. Samsung is calling this display as an Infinity-O display. The Samsung Galaxy A8s shares most of its hardware with its sibling, the A8, including the triple-camera setup.
Infinity-O display
The Samsung Galaxy A8s features a 6.4-inch IPS LCD. The display has Full HD+ resolution. As mentioned earlier, the A8s has a hole in the screen for the camera, which Samsung is calling the Infinity-O display. The hole in the screen creates less obstruction than a notch. Therefore, you can see more content on display. It also looks aesthetically better than the notch. The smartphone has an Always-on Display feature.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC
Most Samsung smartphones feature the brand s own Exynos chipset, but the Samsung Galaxy A8s features Qualcomm s Snapdragon 710 SoC. This SoC has octa-core CPU with four high-high-performance cores and four power-efficient cores for lighter tasks. The smartphone is available in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants. Both the RAM variants have 128GB storage. You also get a dedicated microSD card slot. The device has Android 9 Pie operating system. The OS has Samsung s Experience UI, which has many additional features over the stock Android OS.
Triple-camera
The Samsung Galaxy A8s has three cameras on the back; 24MP, 10MP, and 5MP. The 24MP camera has normal FoV, the 10MP camera has wide-angle FoV, while the 5MP camera is the depth-sensor. Although the A8s is a camera-focused smartphone, it does not have 4K video recording. It can only record Full HD videos. Coming to its front-facing camera, it is placed under in a hole in the display. The front-facing camera has a 24MP resolution.
