Samsung is a brand name that one automatically associates with high-end Android smartphones as the South Korean company was quite successful with its flagship range of devices that competed directly with Apple s offerings. The company also had budget range devices but these weren t exactly great in terms of specs. In recent times, the sheer size of the budget smartphone market and the success of Chinese phone manufacturers have forced Samsung to launch some excellent phones and we re talking about the A-series and M-series. The latest model from the M-series is the Galaxy M50, which as the name indicates, is a level-up from the Galaxy M40 which launched in June 2019. The phone comes with a 6.3-inch punch-hole LCD display that offers a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It runs on the One UI operating system and features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You get a Snapdragon 712 chipset inside the device which is a decent mid-range SoC. There is a 48 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP camera config on the back plus a 16MP shooter on the front for selfie shots. The phone s battery has a capacity of 3700mAh and it supports fast charging as well. The Galaxy M50 features an IPS LCD panel with a punch-hole for the front camera. The screen is reinforced with Gorilla Glass to protect it against scratches. The display has a pixel density of 409 ppi and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.
Snapdragon 712 Chipset, Triple Rear Camera
The Galaxy M50 is equipped with a Snapdragon 712 chipset, which was seen on a few popular phones in this price segment in 2019. The chipset also has an Adreno 616 GPU onboard to take care of all the graphics processing requirements. The phone packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage memory, with the option of adding up to 512GB of expandable memory. You get a triple camera setup for test your photography skills with, and the setup consists of a 48MP primary lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. For vanity shots, the camera packs a 16MP front camera embedded in the punch-hole. The Galaxy M50 can shoot 4K videos with the rear camera and 1080p videos with the front camera.
3700mAh Battery, Fast Charging, Connectivity Options
The M50 is equipped with a 3700mAh battery which is good enough for a full day of use on a single charge. The battery also features fast charging. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone port and you get a USB Type C port for charging and data transfer. Connectivity-wise, you get dual-band Wifi, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and A-GPS. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back.
