Samsung Galaxy Star

The Samsung Galaxy Star is a entry-level Android phone for users who are first time smartphone buyers. This phone has a compact plastic body with removable back and is very comfortable to hold. The phone comes with a 3-inch touchscreen with QVGA display and 133ppi pixel density. The phone is powered by a single 1GHz processor based on ARM Cortex A5 architecture. It comes with 512 MB of RAM, and every other smartphone in its price range are similarly specced. The phone offers 4GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 32GB through the MicroSD slot.

As the Galaxy Star is an entry-level smartphone with low price tag, it comes with only a 2MP camera with neither an autofocus lens nor an LED flash. There is no front-facing camera as well so video calls and self-portraits aren't possible. The primary camera can record videos QVGA videos at 15fps. The phone has one loudspeaker at the back and it also has an 3.5 mm audio jack for headphone connectivity. The phone supports all the basic audio and video formats such as MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, MP4 and WMV.

The phone runs on Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system along with a cut down version of Samsung's own TouchWiz Nature UX. It has all the necessary services from Google such as Gmail, Google Now, Hangouts, Google Maps and Google Calendar. It also comes with Samsung's own apps such as ChatOn, File Manager and Music Player.

As there is a huge demand of dual SIM card slots in the entry-level price range, Samsung has included dual-SIM functionality in the Galaxy Star. The phone lacks 3G connectivity which is a bad thing but it 2G (EDGE) and Wi-Fi b/g/n. The phone has Bluetooth v4.0 for you to transfer files at your convenience. It is equipped with a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that almost lasts one day after a full single charge.
