Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime

After the Redmi 2, Xiaomi has introduced the new Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime. The successor to the Redmi 2 comes with similar features except for the storage and RAM. In other words, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is nothing but an upgraded version of the Redmi 2. The device has polycarbonate like plastic build. The devices carries a weight of mere133 grams which makes it comfortable to hold. The device measures 134 x 67 x 9mm.

The latest offering from the Chinese manufacturer flaunts a 4.7-inch IPS HD (1280x720) display with decent viewing angles. Similar to its predecessor, the smartphone misses out on Gorilla Glass protection but has a fully laminated display for scratch resistance. The pixel density is good at 312 PPI. Being an LCD unit the sunlight legibility is not as great as Super AMOLED but works just fine. The imaging section also sees no change as the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash that aids in low-light photography. To add more to your images, there are modes like face and smile detection, etc. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter that supports high definition video recording.

The device runs an outdated version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat, that is later upgradable to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Under the hood, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC containing four Cortex-A53 cores, and the graphics department is handled by Adreno 306 GPU. The Snapdragon chipset makes sure that the device performs at its optimum best. In terms of memory, the device is an upgrade as it comes with 2GB of RAM to help multitasking. It also has 16GB of onboard storage which is double than the Redmi 2 and can also be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

The device is backed up by a 2,200 mAh Li-Po battery. The battery performance is good considering this is an entry level phone. The Redmi 2 Prime comes with an array of connectivity features which includes dual-SIM 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microUSB 2.0 port with USB OTG support to connect USB peripherals like pen drive directly to it with an adapter.
