Vivo Y55L

Vivo s latest smartphone to launch in India under the Y series is the Vivo Y55L. The device joins a growing list of phones that sport a curved screen. It is priced at under Rs. 15,000.

The device sports a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved-edge display with 720p resolution. The 2.5D refers to a slight curve in the vertical sides of the display that adds to aesthetics and ergonomics but does little else. The phone auto-adjusts display brightness to reduce strain. The device measures a slim 147.9 x 72.9 x 7.5 mm and a light 142 grams.

The 6.0 Marshmallow-based FunTouch OS 2.6 on the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset with an octa-core processor (four 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 and four 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53) and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM that handles everyday mobile tasks with ease while also multitasking effectively. The phone features the split-screen feature to multitask. The phone is equipped with 16GB of storage space that can be expanded to 128GB with a memory card. An Adreno 505 GPU handles graphics.

The primary camera is 8-megapixels with LED flash for low-light smartphone photography that captures quality images. The front camera is 5-megapixels, capable of taking acceptably clear images or self-portraits. The battery is 2,650mAh that will last less than a day at best.

The dual micro and nano SIM phone supports 4G VoLTE, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+ mobile data, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro-USB for charging and data transfer and GPS for maps.
