Asus Zenfone 5 (8GB)

Asus Zenfone 5 8 GB is an affordable power-packed smartphone by the Taiwanese firm. The flagship device features a 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with an HD resolution and an effective pixel density of about 294 PPI. The design is clean and handsome with the lower panel of the phone featuring concentric circle finish and the curved back making it easier to hold. It is a light device at 145 grams and comes in attractive colors including Charcoal Black, Pearl White, Cherry Red and Champagne. While the device has a plastic body, its matte finish back gives it a premium look.

The phone is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 chipset in addition to PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU. It features a microUSB card slot which supports external memory up to 64 GB.

Despite it being a low-price bracket device, Asus has been able to pack a brilliant 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front shooter in the smartphone. It can click images of 3264 x 2448 pixels resolution. Asus Zenfone 5 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which can be upgraded to Android KitKat. The stock version of the Android has been changed significantly to make way for Asus Zen UI, which is smart and intuitive. The phone has all the common Android apps in addition to some of the Asus apps. One such feature helps the user record calls, which is not present on a lot of Android devices.

The phone can play almost all the audio and video formats such as MP3, MP4, WAV, WMI and WMV. Additionally, ASUS Sonic Master improves the audio output.

It houses a non-removable Li-Po 2110 mAh battery which promises talk-time up to 18 hours. The connectivity features include HSDPA (42.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB v2.0.
