The Xolo Black features an IPS OGS(which is a kind of display with one layer of glass lesser than the usual displays to achieve a more slim design) display with Full HD resolution i.e., 1080 x 1920 with 401 PPI pixel density that shows quality content on its 5.5-inch display. The IPS LCD display will show bright colors with contrast that is great for viewing images and videos. In terms of design, the phone has a 7.3 mm sleek glass body with smooth curves and Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides for adequate protection. The back features an oleophobic coating that repels stains and smudges. The phone’s power buttons doubles as a breathing notification light.

The phone runs 5.0 Lollipop with Xolo’s HIVE Atlas UI on top on an MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset that holds a 64-bit 1.5 GHz octa core (4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4 x 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM that ensures smooth sailing when using applications. Storage space on the phone is limited to 16GB with 32GB of expandable storage.

A highlight of this phone is its rear dual camera: 13-megapixels + 2-megapixels, the former for regular photography while the other is for capturing depth. The camera also has some interesting features such as fast focus with a speed of 0.15 seconds, the Ubifocus feature allows the user to shift focus between objects in a frame, allowing them to choose what to focus on and the ChromaFlash feature snaps two shots in a single snap, one with light, and one without to provide a blended final image. The front camera is 5-megapixels with a wide angle lens that captures clear images even with low light. The phone comes with Adobe Photo Studio for editing images. A 3,200mAh Li-ion polymer battery powers the phone for less than day with moderate use.

The dual micro and nano-SIM phone supports 4G LTE mobile data, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and a USB OTG support allowing other devices to directly connect to the phone. For navigation, the phone has GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS. Sensors on the phone include an accelerometer, magnetometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, hall effect sensor and a proximity sensor.
