Google Pixel

Google’s new smartphone, Google Pixel, codenamed Sailfish, will be made by HTC and will mark a shift from the Nexus name. One of two new devices that Google is releasing this year, the Pixel is the smaller of the two with a 5.0-inch screen and lighter specs.

The Pixel has a 5.0-inch Full HD or 1920x1080p display with a pixel density of 441 PPI that will show content with sharpness and clarity. The AMOLED display will maintain crisp contrast between colors, and will also ensure legibility at skewed viewing angles, although clarity might take a hit when you’re out under the sunlight. The phone will be available in white and black colors.  

The Pixel is one of the first devices in the market to run Android Nougat 7.1 and will run a beta version. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC that bears a 2.0 GHz 64-bit quad-core processor and 4GB of RAM that will keep things running smooth, and also multitask efficiently without delays in performance. Graphics will be handled by an Adreno 530 GPU. The phone is equipped with 32GB of storage space for default apps but with no option for expansion as is the case in Google phones.

The primary camera on the Pixel is 12.3-megapixels that will capture satisfactorily clear images. The rear camera is also capable of recording videos in Full HD. The secondary camera is 8-megapixels which will capture adequately clear images while being able to record videos in QHD. The phone is powered by a 2,770mAh battery that should last a day with moderate use.

The Sailfish supports 4G LTE for improved mobile data speeds, Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS for navigation, NFC payments, a 3.5 mm audio jack on top, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The Pixel features a rear fingerprint scanner for security.
