The Android in its pure form can only be found on the Nexus devices; it means, unlike other mobile phone manufacturers who customise Android OS to give it a different look, Google does not customise the Android OS. The Nexus devices do not contain bloatware or duplicate apps which eat the device storage and slow down the device performance. The Nexus series devices are also among the first devices to receive the latest Android operating system updates. The Huawei Nexus 6P comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, and it can be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat via the OTA update.

The Huawei Nexus 6P comes with a large 5.7-inch AMOLED display having a QHD resolution that gives it a pixel density of 518 PPI. The AMOLED displays are known to provide true blacks as it switches of the individual pixels where it has to display black colours. The colours are punchier compared to the LCD displays and the visibility under direct sunlight is higher than LCD displays. Huawei has provided Gorilla Glass 4 protection and oleophobic coating for peace of mind against drops and smudges.

The Snapdragon 810 chipset is known for its heating issue, but the Huawei Nexus 6P is among the very few devices that don't heat up while using this chipset. The combination of the powerful octa-core Snapdragon 810 and 3GB of RAM gives the user a very fluid operation throughout the Nexus 6P’s UI. The gaming tends to heat up the device a bit, but that's expected from a metal body device. There is no microSD card slot as you get abundant 64GB of storage.

The Nexus devices have never been known for the image quality until the launch of Huawei Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. The Huawei Nexus 6P comes with a 12.3-megapixel primary camera having a large 1/2.3 inch sensor and an aperture of f/2.0. The image quality from the primary camera is excellent. The colours produced are not oversaturated nor washed out, the autofocus, is spot on as it is assisted by laser autofocus. Although, The omission of OIS makes the videos shaky. The secondary camera has seen a significant improvement over the previous Nexus device; the Nexus 6P now comes with an 8-megapixel secondary camera that produces sharp and saturated images.

This year’s Nexus devices have gone through a lot of changes that includes a much-awaited stereo speaker setup. The front firing stereo speakers give a wide stage audio output. Another big change is the replacement of microUSB port with a USB Type-C port for better convenience.

The Nexus 6P is the first Nexus device to feature a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the device, and it can be used to unlock the device blazingly fast, unlike the traditional passcode unlock that required a rather lengthy process. The battery backup on the Nexus 6P is pretty good thanks to the large 3,450 mAh non-removable battery that can be quickly charged with the help of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
