48MP Sony IMP586, 960fps Slow-Mo, Snapdragon 675 Chipset
The most notable upgrade on the Mi Max 4 Pro is the use of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor that replaces the Samsung GM1 found on the standard Mi Max 4. Sony s sensor is capable of capturing true 48MP resolution images, while Samsung s implements a 4-in-1 pixel combining tech to produce high-quality 12MP images. The secondary rear sensor on the MI Max 4 Pro is a 20MP camera, while the front gets a 13MP selfie shooter. Both cameras are capable of various AI-based enhancements including bokeh and beauty modes. The selfie camera, in particular, even features AI Face Unlock. Xiaomi has also upgraded the chipset to a Snapdragon 675 on this phone in order to better make use of the large camera. This chipset also boosts gaming performance. Storage on the Mi Max 4 Pro is comprised of a 6GB RAM + 64GB storage setup. The phone also supports the use of microSD cards for storage expansion.
