Xiaomi Redmi Y1

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the latest affordable Android smartphone introduced by the China-based smartphone vendor. The device is identical to the Redmi Note 5A Prime not only regarding appearance but also in terms of hardware. The device ships with a metal body that ekes a premium flagship-life look. At the back, there is a fingerprint reader which has been the norm in most Redmi devices. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the rear camera module, and one has the option of recording multiple fingerprints to unlock the smartphone. 
On top, sits a 5.5-inch HD IPS display which is bright and does the job pretty well. However, outdoor legibility remains a concern as is the case with most budget smartphones. 

The Redmi Y1 runs the proprietary MIUI 8 operating system wrapped under Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is bundled with all the regular connectivity options like 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a microUSB 2.0 port. 
 

For image lovers, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is equipped with a standard 13-megapixel primary camera and a great 16-megapixel front-facing shooter. The rear camera is also assisted with an LED flash to aid low-light photos and videos while the secondary camera can be used for video calling and clicking selfies. 
Under the hood, lies the same octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset which is paired with 3GB of RAM to ensure a smooth and seamless performance besides aiding lag-free multitasking.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is equipped with 32GB of internal storage support which can be expanded using a microSD card up to 256GB. One of the plus points of the device is that it ships with a dedicated microSD card slot. 
The smartphone packs a non-removable Li-Ion 3,080mAh battery which is expected to last longer than most other low-end smartphones.
